Bioenerg. Res. (2008) 1:215–222 reports field-scale trials showing soil organic carbon gains under switchgrass, a perennial warm-season C4 grass grown for bioenergy that was cut and baled each year for 5 years. Switchgrass roots commonly extend to a depth of 10 feet or more. Much of the gain was in the 30-120 cm depth, and also in the top 5 cm.

The location is approximate.
